"In the time of my confession" - Memory, prayer and religious roots in the music of Bob Dylan, with Dr Malcolm Guite

Dylan with crucifix Click here to read the lecture on Dylan (see title above) delivered for the Woolf Institute in Cambridge on Dec. 9th by Dr Malcolm Guite.

Bob Dylan is one of the great literary/musical figures of the 20th century, important both as an icon of popular culture and one of the greatest poets working in English. Throughout his work he draws on Biblical material, both in light of his Jewish roots and up-bringing and his own spiritual journeyings which have explored Christian and Jewish faiths. This lecture explored both the depth and the fusion of his Jewish and Christian roots through close engagement with some of his finest songs.

Dr Malcolm Guite is a poet and singer-songwriter. He is also a priest, chaplain, teacher and author on contemporary Christianity.
